Emergency Root Canal Treatment
When you have a tooth that is badly decayed or that becomes infected, we perform root canal treatment for you in our dental surgery.
This involves removing the nerve and the soft tissue known as pulp that is contained within the natural cavity, or root canal, of your tooth. Once we remove this we then clean and seal the inside of your tooth. If you need a crown, we will make an impression of your tooth at this point and then create a crown that beautifully matches your original tooth, putting a temporary crown in place until the permanent one is ready.
To ensure your comfort, we apply a local anaesthetic. Taking the time to explain as we proceed, we complete the entire procedure gently and thoroughly. In more complex cases, your treatment may take several appointments to complete. In the end, you will have full use of your tooth, with the only difference being that you are now pain free.
To help you identify whether you may be in need of root canal treatment here are a few of the symptoms:
Severe pain in a tooth when you chew or apply pressure
Painful sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures long after the heat or cold has been removed
Darkening or discoloration of a tooth
Swollen and tender gums near the problem tooth
A pimple on the gum that persists or recurs.
Should you experience any of these symptoms, give Carlton Dental a call.
We’ll schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience and assess the problem tooth or teeth quickly.
Through our exam and X-rays, we’ll determine if you do need root canal treatment or if another treatment option is necessary.
Then, we’ll schedule you for root canal treatment and follow the procedure mentioned above.
If we discover that the source of your discomfort stems from another issue, we’ll advise you on the most appropriate treatment.
We'll Take the Fear Out of Root Canal Treatment
While some people experience no symptoms at all, these are the most common. So whether you are in need of emergency dental care or just have a tooth that you would like us to evaluate, make an appointment with Carlton Dental, and take both the pain and the fear out of root canal treatment.
